Bay Crits Day One PDF Print E-mail

Gidday,

Day One of Bay Crits down. Pretty pleased to get it out of the way, calm the nerves down...well actually maybe more like a lack of adrenaline over the last few days and my body was craving the adrenaline. I just can't seem to wean myself off it.

Anyways, a 2km circuit through the Botanic Gardens down here in Geelong. The amount of people watching was amazing, the finishing straight was just packed and there seemed to be people everywhere! It was a bit intimidating lining up with riders of the calibre of Robbie McEwen, Chris Sutton, Graeme Brown, but after 15mins I was loving it, back in my element and mixing it up. Took a little while to get into it, but legs came round and the adrenaline started flowing. Got to love that adrenaline. With a couple of laps to go I found myself in a pretty decent position, leadouts were starting and crashes were happening, which luckily I managed to avoid. On the last lap, found myself back around 20th-25th in the line of things and it was a bit too far to come forward from. Ended up finishing around the same position crossing the finish line. Good to get the first one out of the way and am already ready to knock it up again tomorrow...BRING IT ON!!

Better go, dinner time over here now. And unlike last year, hopefully dinner won't consist of 3hr cooked french pasta.

Will update Day Two tomorrow.

Cheers,
